@matcha ，The untamed just focused on cultivator's lives & story. When you cultivate for a longtime & your spiritual energy becomes strong the u can ascend & become a god. There is no element of wuxia in the untamed. They use musical instruments to fight & they don't even have to lift a finger to fight as the swords can fight without the owner touching them.
Also they're are ghosts in there. Real ghosts. Just because they didnt focus on gods in the story doesn't mean they aren't there.
You can go read heaven official's blessing( by the same author of the untamed) then you will know more about the gods in the xianxia world.
