Russian banks, billionaires and technology firms were targets of a new wave of sanctions by the United States over the invasion of Ukraine. More than US$1 trillion in Russian assets will be frozen by the US, while leaders in the United Kingdom moved to shut Russia out from its national banking system. The measures came as Russia moved its military into Ukraine on three fronts, in what Ukrainian officials have called a “full-scale invasion.”

This is not to mention that the Chinese economy is literally the engine for the world's economic growth, accounting for over a fifth of the world's GDp growth. Any attempts to stagnate the Chinese economy spells catastrophe for the world's economy.

Foreign corporations that have their entire base of manufacturing already in China are hard-pressed to pull out now. That's why the only thing that came out of Trump's trade war with China are companies exporting their manufactured products from China to neighbouring Vietnam to be slapped with a "made in Vietnam" tag to bypass tariffs.
