Crazy fact: This battle happened right next to the British held quarter of the city so many civilians could clearly see the fighting as an observer.This was because the British were not at war with Japan yet. Also the 88th was a Chinese German trained and equipped division that was very well trained and courageous to the point that they more or less gave the Japanese a Pyric victory in this battle.

@hhh Nothing happened to it until 1941 when japn attacked Pearl Harbor and US and the rest of allies declared war on japan. They occupied the concessions and the soldiers who survived became prisoners or were became laborers for the japanese.
