Set in the Second Phase Offensive of the Korean War, "The Battle at Lake Changjin" tells an epic historical tale: 71 years ago, the People's Volunteer Army (PVA) entered North Korea for battle. Under extreme freezing conditions, the troops on the Eastern Front pursued with fearless spirit and iron will, as they courageously fought the enemy at Lake Changjin (also known as Chosin Reservoir). The battle was a turning point in the Korean War and demonstrated the courage and resolve of the PVA.

Twenty years ago, I read about the Chosin Reservoir while waiting to attend Marine Officer Candidate School. It was a clear American defeat. Its true, we inflicted enormous casualties on the Chinese; but our formations were nearly destroyed and we couldn't hold the area. In plain language, they broke through our defenses and we retreated.

In 1996, I met a Korean War veteran in Neosho/Joplin, Missouri. He was a coach of a local shooting team. The gentleman was very friendly to Chinese people. And he had great respect for Chinese soldiers. He called Chinese soldiers as "True warriors." Korean War was a mistake. We can't make same mistake again. We were allies in World War II.

The USA didn't announce war, it intervened as part of an international force under UN mandate to protect South Korea. That is to say, it wasn't a war of aggression.

Lol, you do know that the Chinese gdp at 1949 was 28 billion dollars. The US spent more on their military than the entire Chinese economy. And lots didn’t even earn a dollar a day. 1.4 billion dollars is not a lot, South Korea itself before the Korean War in 1950 had a gdp of 3.8 billion dollars
