A song from a Chinese TV serious that is based on a long novel of Chinese fairy tales “Journey to the West” (see Wikimedia).

一首来自中国电视剧的歌曲，改编自《西游记》。

The story line is: in the Tang Dynasty, a young and handsome monk was sent by the emperor to the west to collect Buddhist sutras.

在唐代，一位年轻英俊的和尚被皇帝派去西天求取真经。

Along the way, he took four apprentices (who were non-human but immortals and became his safety guards), walked years, crossed many mountains and rivers, and experienced hardships of life and death.

一路上，带着四个徒弟行走多年，跨过山河，经历生死。

The story of this particular song: one day they came to a ‘Girls Kingdom’, a wealthy, peaceful and beautiful place, and there’s no man but all females.

有一天，他们来到了“女儿国”，一个富裕、宁静、美丽的地方，那里没有男人，只有女人。

The ‘King’ of the kingdom was young and very beautiful. She hosted them, and fell in love with the monk. However, being devoted to his duty the monk although felt the same in his heart refused her, left the kingdom and continued his journey to the west.

年轻貌美的国王接待了他们师徒，并爱上了和尚。和尚虽有心动，但最终还是却拒绝了她，离开了女儿国继续西行。

I don't understand a word of it still have listened it at least 50 times very soothing can any one tell meaning Mandarin words of this song (it sounds more mandarin to me than Cantonese) and meaning in English?

Very little from the western world even comes close to comparing with the sensitivity and beauty of a musical rendition such as this. All to do with stories, history, and folklore of a unique people I think. Thanks for sharing.
