Stranded sperm whale released back into sea in China

急救抹香鲸

A 19-metre-long sperm whale came ashore in eastern China. The whale was finally returned to its home after more than 20 hours through the efforts of local firefighters and authorities.

The whale did an amazing job to keep breathing off the water. I think the very soft mud saved her. Otherwise her organs cant stand for her bodyweight for that long.

Great job by the rescuers! remembered reading somewhere recently that americans rode on a stranded dolphin and did not even get help until it died, glad to hear this whale could eventually return to sea.
