Inspired by a Chinese legend, a French artist’s version of the Goddess of Nüwa dragon-horse creature stomped its way through the streets of Toulouse, France on April 16, 2022. The animated sculpture Long Ma was created by François Delarozière, who developed it in 2015 to help celebrate the 50th anniversary of the 1964 establishment of Franco-Chinese diplomatic relations. The 45-tonne machine has also wowed crowds in other places around the world, including in Beijing, Ottawa, Nantes, and Calais.

For those of you wonder what creature this is. According to The Classic of Mountains and Seas, earliest known Chinese literature on mythology. The nature of dragon is lascivious, which it copulates with all creatures it finds. Thus the dragons of different beastly forms came to be. Like Bixi, Bi’an, Qiuniu, Suanni, Pulao, Chiwen etc. People refer them as ‘The nine offsprings of Dragon’, but there are more than nine for sure.

And this one is the product between the dragon and a horse.
