I can't stress enough how much this novel surprised me, is this really a Chinese author? It surpassed my wildest expectations and established a new standard for good characterization, there are a few plot devices here and there that for a moment seem to force the story to go in one direction BUT considering the length the numbers are negligible. I also feel the need to "warn" you that the start is really underwhelming and seems like the plot is not going anywhere but endure it for about half of book 1 and then you get to the really good stuff.
Then last but not least I find the MC to be enjoyable in the sense that you can empathize with and understand the choices he makes. His progression and development, considering the situations he finds himself in, is well thought.

This is a good novel and totally surprises you considering it is a Chinese novel. It was eye opener for me and enlightened me about lot of things.Setting of the world start with post apocalypse and super species live among us. World is polluted and human life reaches to savagery. But world' s will gives supernatural adaptability to all living beings to cope with this world and also fight the unwanted super alien species. MC is not stupid and uses brain lot of times. Background set up is very good.Ending leaves you with bitter-sweet test.

This novel brings a fairly new concept and has a very interesting premise . It is set in a post apocalyptic world where people try to create space in their genes to gain power. The power system is a bit weird but once you accept it the story gets very interesting . It has a complex plot. Also, the characters in this feel real instead of being pure stupid and it has noticeable character growth. I feel this is one of the best novels out here on this site. Also, it's from Misty Rain of Jiangnan and I've observed that all his novels that I've read are amazing. For reference, Monarch of Evernight and City of Sin are both by this author.

Exceptional plot and completely enjoyable storyline. I was on brink of going insane right from the start. Loved it. I have read more than 50 web & light novels but this stands apart. I wonder if super gene is like this or different. Although chapters were a bit short but that curiosity that makes you on edge to find out what happens next, I'll say author stole my heart. That adventure and romance you won't get in most other novels. If you have read more than 30 40 novels then you are able to guess a bit about what should happen but here there are so many twists and turns, it completely escaped my imagination.

This novel has one of the most badass MC's out there.To be honest, it never failed to surprise me as how it captures the reader and make it travel with you hand in hand to explore the apocalyptic world.No nonsense villains which may turn allies at the next moment, and the search for the truth about oneself and the current condition of the world, this novel here is plethora of things that Western Fantasy authors could learn from.

A really good novel from the ones I read!
This is the type of novel you can say could happen in our real world, like after nuclear explosions, the humans adapt and begin to evolve their genes. You could make a parallel with classical cultivation system and all the evolutionary process but don't expect the classical thing.
It's a run against time of humanity against what danger? This question is present the whole novel and all the developments are really well introduced, all is logic and you can't help being snapped up! It's a perfect intermediate between European science fiction and wuxia classics and I can't find anything degrading to say. Maybe some explications which are sometimes shallow but it's maybe just my English which is to perfect.
I strongly recommend! Just try it and you'll be quickly in it!
