The setting are pretty familiar for us, not in the distant world but our own post apocalyptic world, something happen in earth and all living being undergoing mutation including human, animal and plant, and this happen on near future around 2057+
for story I was pretty skeptical at first, because many japanese anime have similar setting in their story, but I was proven wrong once again, it's modern xinxia !!

I was looking forward to reading this novel, because of the high rating. However, I was disappointed with the pacing of the story. It has a good premise, but it reads more like a slice-of-life mood. The MC takes this test, then he has to take that exam, etc. I tried to power through the first 26 chapters, but the story is boring.

To tell you the truth, I didn't expect to like this story much because of it having a futuristic setting and a sci-fi theme, because I am more into medieval-esque or ancient time period fantasy settings. However, I found the story to be quite entertaining, and I find the post-apocalyptic story to be quite original and intriguing. The MC is likeable in my opinion and somewhat does things rationally (at least in my opinion). The only thing that I find disappointing is the pace of the translation.

I super, super love this story. My first Xianxia or Wuxia novel was Coiling Dragon. And I thought at the time that was the best. But then I started reading Stellar Transformations. To my amazement, ST became my new favorite. And then Desolate Era came along so it became my new favorite. Ever since I caught up with the chapters, I moved to Swallowed Star. And you bet this became my new favorite but I must say, so far, out of the stories I mentioned above, I must say Swallowed Star topped them off. Perhaps I'm being biased, since I'm running out of IEatTomatoes novels to read. Lol.

IET is one of the best authors out there, he has some great novels and Swallowed Star is by far my favorite of the ones that I have read (I have read CD, ST, DE and TNC so all the big ones).
This novel is brilliant in almost every aspect, there are no "repeating cliche antagonists" that get in the way of the plot and characters.

IET novels have a certain style that draws you in as long as you don’t like to nitpick. This novel is set in a post apocalyptic world so it got one of the few interesting premises that you can only find in a just a few xianxia.

I love this novel.. MC don't get crazy cheat like another xianxia novel in this site.. He is using his brain, talent and hardwork to overcome all obstacle..
