MoE is one of my favorite novels if not my favorite on this sight, it starts within a very dark and almost brutal world. This part usually keeps a lot of readers continuing the story, but if you can continue through I think you will find it is one of the best and underrated novels on this sight in my humble opinion. I think both the allies and enemies in the story are very enjoyable along with the well thought out cultivation world they reside in. If you are willing I hope you will read and enjoy this novel as I have. Ps. I think it would be a refreshing story for people who are tired of cliches in a lot of Wuxia, and Xuanhuan novels.

What other novels would you recommend that avoid overused wuxia cliches?

I love this novel as it avoid cliches and the author does a good job of avoiding contrived arch’s that don’t directly build on the plot in anyway.

I also loved city of sin and warlock of the magus world. I’m looking for novels of a simlar ilk. Do you have any recommendations?

@Ericelliot But I would recommend Divine Throne of Primordial Blood as it has a smart MC and as the enemies and allies are not Brain dead. Another one I would recommend is Destroyer Of Ice And Fire- this novel is very light hearted and strays from the usual cliches of the XianxiaWuxia genre.

This is one of my favourite novels on here. The world building in this novel is amazing, the first book is basic just a prologue to the test of the story but it is 100% worth reading through it. I would 10/10 recommend this novel people who love massive world building fantasy worlds. As for the main character.... Honestly in my opinion if he had his way he’d probably just settle down and live a family lifestyle in peace but from the moment he was born and discarded fate had other plans. He Longs for peace but was born to to dominate his world.

MoE is an amazing novel I would recommend to anyone enjoying a bit darker setting. Has to do with vampires, werewolves demonkin and human, as all the races struggle with and against each other for supremacy. The protagonists have depth and the politics (planning , power balance etc) are clearly defined. Many surprises, no huge plot armor and a very enjoyable read. Literally levels" are well made, and most important is that the protagonist(s) doesn't get suddenly OP or anything, he struggles hard and always has to make important choices and/or go through bitter and hard battles. One of my favorites.

This is a great novel.

The good:

- The setting is pretty rare in this genre, a mixture of your traditional cultivation novel with a dark theme of vampires, werewolves, and other creatures, sprinkled with some gun slinging. So this is a good choice for people interested in reading something fresh.

- The writing is very good, at least compared to the majority of the novel in the same genre.

- There is character growth, people complain that the MC is weak or naive, but I think these people gave up on the novel way too early. If the MC is flawless from the get go what growth can he have?

- The relationship with other character is great, specially the recurring side characters, they are unique and have a story of their own and are not just backup dancers.

- The fights are interesting

The bad:

- The story can move slowly at time

- - - Sometimes you can go 4-5 chapters with zero dialogue which makes the story feel even slower.

- - - Fights are fun, but too much time is spent on fights with nameless, one-off characters which can also make the story feel slower.

One of the most underrated novel here.

Moe is does not have the normal cliche scenes. It is a steady novel with deep story.

This novel differs from the other cultivation novels here. It is a good reading experience for all of us.

The main character is NOT one of those hypocrites who goes around preaching righteousness. But he is a decent guy.

The translator is awesome, punctual, and the translation is of good quality. Currently my favourite in going novel here.

It's still my favorite novel and I've started it quite early on (at the start in fact now that I think about it) so yeah :D

I Highly recommend this one and here is why :

The world building is is amazing, It's indeed a quite dark world describe early on and you might found that difficult to read but it's a necessity to the start of the story. The Main Char is really good, has a good mindset and great relationship with others characters. This novel is clearly underrated.

An absolute masterpiece. 9.5/10

Monarch Evernight is a whole new experience for me. Although the plot is not that perfect, it is great. It's just so unique compared to other Wuxia. If one changed the names of the characters, I would've thought it was a top-rated English novel, not a Wuxia novel.

The story is quite dark, and when I say quite dark I mean really dark. It's like a mix of cultures, Asian and Western. As for the MC, he is a bit cold-blooded,

The only thing you would need to take in mind while reading is having some patience at the beginning of the story.

Other than that, it is all great.

I have to say, this novel is much better than people rate it. This novel is mature and has graphic scenes, and if you don't want that then this is not for you!

Overall I think the novel is good and the translators have done a beautiful job on it so far. I love the steampunk cultivation wold, it is something a little different from the norm but still familiar.

The characters are well built
